This films tackles the narrative of the 1930s in Britain as a dark and regressive period. Exploring the more positive elements of the decade in Edinburgh as well as in Britain as a whole.

Focusing on an architecturally interesting former garage in the heart of Edinburgh, the film uses the structure as a gateway to a period in which the city underwent sizeable change.

The film does not seek to dismiss the difficulties faced by many in areas dependent on core industries, but instead to remind us of the complexity of the period, highlighting the booms in industries such as car manufacturing and building, as well as the strength of Britain's consumer economy during the 30s.
